How About Do It Yourself Credit Repair?

May 26, 2008 · Print This Article

Is it possible for someone to patch up their credit on their own without using a debt consolidation service? Yes, it sure is! If you think your credit score should be higher than it is, there are several simple things you can do yourself that can bring it up.

First of all, order a copy of your free credit report. The law states that you can get a free copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies, which are Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Each one of these reporting agencies can have slightly different information on you, so be sure that you have in hand a copy from all three before proceeding.

Once you have received your credit report, look it over carefully to see if you can locate any errors. Most people can find at least one, and some people will find several. You might find incorrect information or credit cards that you cancelled that are still open. You may even see evidence that someone else has been using your identity to rack up charges. Make a careful note of each wrong item that you can see on your credit report, for you are going to be contacting all three of the credit reporting agencies in writing to tell them that you are disputing information, and want your report reviewed.

The law states that the credit reporting agencies have 30 days to check out your report to see if the claims that you are making are true, and to respond with an answer. They will have to get in touch with the creditor or the lender where you had the account, and ask them to provide information that will prove that you owe them money.

If the creditor or lender cannot prove that you owe them, the credit reporting agency has to remove those items from your credit report. This will cause your credit score to increase. If the answer is that you do owe the money, and you believe you have been the victim of identity theft, you can contact the credit reporting agencies to have your file tagged as an identity theft victim, and  report this information to the creditors in question as well. The agencies and creditors  may ask you to provide them with a police report, which can be used to place a fraud alert on your file and prevent any company from trying to collect those debts.

    No.

First, it takes 7-10 years to repair credit safely. The only thing that you can do to credit quickly is to make it worse.

Second, I am not aware of any reputable credit repair companies. I can tell you that any company that guarantees that they will repair your credit quickly is not reputable and is not safe.

This is a very simple swap that can be done in your garage/driveway within a few hours.

    Put the car on jack-stands
    Remove the wheels
    Front suspension:
    - Unbolt brake lines from shocks
    - Remove bolt that connects the damper fork to the LCA
    - Remove bolt that connects the damper fork to the shock
    - Remove the damper fork
    - Remove two nuts that connect the shock to the shock tower (in engine bay)
    - Remove the shock assembly from the car
    Rear suspension:
    - Remove bolt that connects shock to LCA
    - Remove two nuts that connect the shock to the shock tower (in trunk)
    - Remove the shock assembly from the car
    Disassembling of shock assembly:
    - Make mark on shock body & upper mount so you can reinstall it exactly the same
    - Install spring compressor that you rented from auto-parts store
    - Compress spring until there is no preload between the upper & lower spring perches
    - Remove top nut at the end of the shock shaft
    - Remove entire upper shock mount from shock shaft (don't loose any parts)
    - Remove spring
    - Slowly decompress spring
    - Install new spring
    - Reinstall upper mount & line it up with your markings (use compressor if necessary)
    - Reinstall top nut & torque to spec
    - Repeat for all shocks
Reinstall all shocks but don't tighten any bolts or nuts down
Bolt brake lines to front shocks & make sure the bolts are tight
Reinstall damper forks on front shocks
Make sure notch in damper forks line up with tab on back of the shocks
Make sure the shocks is seated all the way into the damper forks
Reinstall bolts that connect damper forks to LCAs, but don't tighten them
Torque down pinch bolts that connect damper forks to the front shocks
Loosen ALL suspenison bolts that travel through the center of a bushing a couple turns
Starting at one corner, Use a jack & jack up the LCA until the car barely lifts off the nearest jack-stand
Torque all nuts & bolts of the lifted suspension corner to spec
Move to next corner & repeat the "jacking & torquing" process
    Reinstall wheels
    Test drive

Hope this helps. Just take your time and get a friend to give you a hand. Have fun!

Forget credit repair companies. Most are pure scam. Even the legit ones only do what you can easily do yourself. There are no special letters or secret procedures to clean up your credit.

Get a copy of your credit report (AnnualCreditReport.com). If there are errors, dispute them with the credit bureau. Legitimate negative items age off your credit report 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency. The older the item, the less impact on your score.

If any of your derogatory items are single entry items, like medical or utility bills, you can try to negotiate pay for delete agreements (you pay $x and they remove the item) with the collection agencies. This doens't work for regularly reported items like credit cards and installment loans. The collection agency can only remove what they report. The original creditor's charge off would remain.

If you have open credit card accounts, use them and pay off the balance in full every month. If you don't have a credit card, get one, even if you have to get a secured card — you pay a deposit which is held as collateral against the line of credit. You need to build up at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history to improve your score.

DIY color is usually a coating of color on your hair.
Salon color is a more penetrating color, in other words it goes into your hair where the color naturally is located.
Yes you are paying for the stylists time, but you are also paying for their knowledge. Understanding color is a skill acquired over a period of years of learning the different types of hair and color products.
Check out how many questions here are from ppl who have screwed up their hair trying to do it at home.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.
No……………. I'm not saying that just because I'm a professional

A cross built out of 4 inch by 4 inch thick timber half way cut out in the midle for a perfect cross so they sit inside each other and lay flat , with holes drilled out the size of your tubing would help you spiral your hose perfectly and keep it housed better ,just 1 inch apart should suffice , also allowing more of the tubing to absorb the suns heat ( including the sides of the tubing , if you used much longer tubing you could quite easily fill the carport roof completely , giving more volume.

Got something to say?
