Can Bad Credit Leave You Homeless?
May 20, 2009 · Print This Article
One thing is consistent, from the highest CEO with a seven-figure annual salary to the regular factory worker working a 9 to 5 job and living from paycheck to paycheck – everybody needs a home.
However, in today’s economy, many people are worrying about whether or not their diminished credit will prevent them from taking out a mortgage, and thusly condemn them to never having a home that they can call their own. This is especially of concern considering the current freeze on loans to all but the most qualified candidates. Is there any hope for the disenfranchised people trying to rebuild their credit who wish to purchase their own home?
Of course; there is always hope. It just might be the case that you need to go a little further out of the way to acquire the loan you desire, but in the end, the process is worth it, and you too can achieve the dream of owning your own home.
The first thing you need to do, if you have bad credit and are looking to purchase a home, is to enlist the services of a broker who specializes in situations like yours. Yes, there are brokers out there who have successfully negotiated mortgages for individuals with bad credit, and therefore, they have the contacts necessary to do it again. With such a broker on your side, he or she will be able to present your case in the best way possible to any given lender, and maximize your chances of getting a loan. The one drawback to this situation, and one that you should be prepared to face, is that you’re likely to have to pay a higher broker’s fee than a client with good credit would. This is only appropriate, however, because your broker’s job is going to be made much more difficult by your situation.
Have faith in this process. These brokers exist to help individuals like yourself who are having trouble with credit, and you’re not going to be the exception. Once you have your mortgage, however, the ball is back in your court.
Examine the reasons why you got into debt to begin with. Many people may write off their bad credit as an inevitable result of the economic downfall we’re all facing, but this is, in many cases, a cop-out. Is it possible that, with better managing, you could have survived the recession with your credit intact? If so, then you need to implement those better management strategies now, so that you can avoid the situation of falling back into debt again in the future. After all, now that you have a mortgage, you have a lot more to lose, so be careful!
In the end, owning your own home is a dream that anyone can realize. Don’t listen to the hype that you have to have perfect credit to be able to get a mortgage, because it just isn’t true. You may end up paying a bit more upfront than others, and face a higher interest rate in the long term, but you can still do it, and you can also always negotiate a better contract later on, once you’ve proved yourself through consistent payments and maintenance of your mortgage. View this as an opportunity to get back on your feet again!

I have recently been accepted to graduate school. But, prior to being accepted, I purchased a car about three months before being laid off. Now, my bank has reported me three times to the credit bureaus, which has dropped my score by a staggering 80 points! So, I cannot even get a private student loan when my previous score would have allowed me to get one easily. And, I am paying more than 1300.00 in rent each month in the Northern Virginia area, and need to start looking for a cheaper apartment in November. Tell me, how can I get my credit score up high enough to avoid having a cosigner for a new apartment, let alone a student loan?
You are positive bro…you deserve better! Keep going.

They offer what is called a secured credit card. Basically send them $500 or more, and they send you a Mastercard, with the same limit. 99% of people get approved for these types of secured credit cards. They still require you to make payments when you use it, but the great thing is it will build new credit, or rebuild bad credit!
God I miss this band the new ones suck so bad
War is hell.
It affects different people different ways.
The USA (and Canadian) government do NOT put enough money into funding to help people after they have exposed them to death, destruction and the overall beating down of other people.
So, they come home damaged and in need of help they aren't going to get.
Some of the soldiers from Vietnam were openly mocked and treated rudely when all they did was serve their country. I'm sure you will see some of this with the soldiers that were sent to Iraq under false pretenses. There are also people that were exposed to things like "agent orange" and never treated properly.
It's shameful that a country would treat the people that are sent to serve like this.
Downright shameful.

You pay off your debts which places them in good standing. Most will take a "payoff" in lieu of the full amount due, unless it is already with a collection agency.
Also, if you have paid it, and it is still showing as a negative, ask the credit company to remove it, and let them know that you have paid it in full. If paid, it will most likely be removed. You can do this online at their websites.
Also, if the bill is under your ex's ss#, they can't legally put it on your credit report.
Loans For People With Bad Credit – No Credit Confirmation For Smooth Finance
shes amazing! hahahah (:
Everybody wants you to go to xyz company. It took you awhile to get bad credit and it will take you a while to repair it. It is very simple pay off your bad accounts or bring up to date. After that pay consecutive payments for two to three years. There is no quick fix. Items on your credit report stay for 7 years so all you can do is to show that you are paying on time.
let him buy the house in his name, or go a mortgage company and they will help you get a home, since banks are very picky on credit, let a mortgage company help you….if you are interested in getting a loan for a new home, look for mortgage companies.
Its not going to affect you as long as you don't want his name on any bills or loans that you may acquire. Otherwise, yes its going to affect you…. He won't be able to finance an engagement ring with crappy credit!! And any kind of car or home loan will either just be in your name or you will have a higher interest rate because of his credit score. If he's in over his head, consider credit counseling or bankruptcy. Its a big decision, but your credit is very important. Take this from someone who has had major credit issues since graduation. If he gets a secured credit card and maybe just charges Gas, or something small (Something he has the cash for) and then turns around immediately and pays it off it will gradually improve his credit. It all depends on how bad it is. Good luck!!!
I feel bad. I had no idea she was the one to report it. Oh well, I went back and gave credit.
i think you may need to do better research if this is for school than asking the question on y!a. but it sounds like a good research project. especially since many homeless people did not cause their situation.
Your score is now 6!
Charities urge ministers to save lives by bringing in punitive pricing to save a generation of ‘young olds’ who are pressing the fast-forward button to self-destruction A leading homeless charity last night pleaded with the government to drastically raise the price of super-strength beers and ciders, saying that cheap alcohol was killing more people living rough than crack cocaine or heroin. Thames Reach, which helps thousands of homeless people throughout London and the south-east, said it was alarmed that proposals to increase the price of cider, put forward by the last government, had been scrapped in response to furious lobbying from West Country producers. However, it is understood that ministers are now looking at proposals to increase the price of “white cider” – the cheap, high-strength alcohol that is made with a minimum apple content and has become the drink of choice for homeless people in recent years. “From our experiences, we feel pretty confident in saying these drinks…

Why just give a homeless bum 10 bucks theyll probably spend on crack?, well, I don’t assume to see the future. It felt good. Maybe she OD’d and made your day, or maybe she got a happy meal. Trust me, I’m not cut from the finest cloth in terms of finance either. Theres another homeless guy I always saw who’d tap the side of the bus on the way to school. He scared the shit out of me but I still gave him the snacks I didn’t plan on eating once in a while. Is kindness so unimaginable?
